The polls are open.  Vote for Best Flair, Best Team Name, Most Social and Most Likely to Close Down the Pour House now!

Flair Week Winners
Tuesday night showed some great creativity and bocce enthusiasm, with at least 15 teams participating in Flair Week. The competition was fierce!

The first place prize went to Invasion of the Bocce Snatchers for a well-executed alien theme, with homemade t-shirts and wacky tin hats. In second place was Boccelicious, whose grapey-ness would make Fruit of the Loom proud. And in third place was Baci Bandits, who adapted various bocce t-shirt colors to portray the cast of "Clue."

Be sure to check out all the hilarious Pictures to see what you might have missed.

A Pour House PSA
A friendly disclaimer from Pour House regarding the recently distributed Living Social Coupon:

Living Social coupons do not apply to discounted nightly specials and/or sports leagues specials. They can be used on those nights--just not to be applied to the discounted pitchers and food specials.

Week 3 Skeeball Tournament
Thanks to everyone who participated in the August 3 Skeeball Tourney to benefit the Garfield Park Association.  The first place winner, Phil Mione, scored a whopping 540 points!  In second place was Neil McDonald, with 400 points. Tied for third place were Peter Mengola and Kipp Johnson with 390 points.

Charitable donations totaled $520, including both Tuesday and Wednesday Division fundraising dollars and a match by DC Bocce.

Peroni Ticket Contest Prize
The team that orders the most Peroni and/or Blue Moon pitchers at the Pour House and fills the pot with the most tickets wins a fall weekend getaway in Ocean City, Md.!  Check out our Blog for details.

Things to Know on Game Day
Every Tuesday, make sure to check in with a Black Shirt at the picnic table located southwest of the playground and the bocce courts.  Each team will play one game on the courts, as indicated on your schedule, with the remainder of games set up with cones and played on the grass on the southwest quadrant of the park (on the side of the sidewalk closest to the I-395 overpass).

In the case of inclement weather, we will post an update on this page by 4 p.m., game day. Make up games will most likely take place that Thursday.

Check out our Rules for more details.  Standings and Pictures will be updated a few days after your games are done.

Bar Specials and Sponsors
The Pour House (319 Pennsylvania Ave, SE) is our Cap Hill postgame destination and is located just a few short blocks away from the park.  During League nights, members enjoy the following specials on our sponsor beers, Peroni and Blue Moon, as well as food specials at the bar.  We'll have:

  • $3 Peroni/Blue Moon drafts, $10 pitchers
  • Family-style pasta specials
  • $5 Nachos
  • $5 Pierogies
  • $5 mozzarella sticks
  • $5 soft pretzels

During the season we will be raffling off prize packs every week via our Peroni Contest.  Make sure to stop by the bar to enter for your chance to win.  We will be giving away free bar tabs, baseball and food vouchers, and front row tickets to see Dave Matthews in concert. See a Black Shirt for more details.

Game Location and Directions
Garfield Park (2nd and F Streets, SE)

Via Metro: Take the Orange/Blue Line to the Capitol South Metro stop. Walk south on 1st Street, SE towards Tortilla Coast and Bullfeathers for 3 blocks and you will dead end into the park. Visit www.wmata.com for more information.

Driving: Click Here. And please be aware of parking regulations in the area, often pertaining to Nationals Stadium.

Remember to take any trash that you bring into the park back out again.  The trash bins get full by the day of our games so please throw your trash away in a bin outside of the park.  And let's do our part to help the environment by taking any recyclable materials to the Pour House for deposit after your games.

Bocce Courts
In 2005, the DC Bocce League funded and constructed two bocce courts in Garfield Park on Capitol Hill. The courts, located between the playground and tennis courts, are the first and only public bocce courts in DC. We invite the entire community to enjoy them and become familiar with one of the world’s oldest sports.

Special Thanks
To the Friends of Garfield Park, the Capitol Hill community, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 8 for their support of DC Bocce.
