Playoff Bracket- First Round, 2/22
Every team made the playoffs (which is single elimination) and every team will play one match this Wednesday, 2/22. The bracket is color coded for which court you will play on and the time in which you will play. Win or lose, keep March 7th on your calendar for our End of Season Party... we'll have more details later but of course there'll be some free beer!!

Hawaiian Flair Week Winners!
Aloha, and thank you to all who donned Hawaiian flair this past week! A big congratulations to our winners, Yaris AdMo-Nomics, who received $50 to McFadden's. Another shout out to our second place team, Reach Out and Touch Somebocce, who sported Hawaiian shirts for the occasion and won $50 to Burger Tap and Shake.

We're also very impressed by the flexibility of our bocce players in the limbo contest! Congrats to our limbo winner, Adam Pusateri of Bocc Cassidy & the Sundance Balls, who received $25 to McFadden's, and to our runner-up, Ashley Horne of Little Leboccski Urban Achievers, who won an indoor bocce set. Congrats!

Lots of VD love at bocce!
Thanks for showing your love for charity on 2/8 by purchasing Valentines! We were able to raise $105, which DC Bocce matched! All money collected will benefit Give Kids the World, an organization that gives families with children who have life-threatening illnesses a week-long, cost-free trip to Orlando to go to Disney World and other theme parks. Thanks for having a heart, ballers!!

Souper Bowl Results!
The canned goods have been counted, and our division collected a total of 183 items to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank. Congrats! DC Bocce will be matching that donation at $1 per item donated. Wow! This total is in large part thanks to Nobody Puts Bocce in a Corner, who donated 59 total items and wins the $50 to McFadden's! A special shout out goes to Terms of Enrampagement who donated 42 items and Scocce on the Rocks who contributed 27 items. Generosity runs rampant in our division, apparently! Thank you!

Peroni Ticket Contest
Be sure to get a raffle ticket from the friendly bartenders or servers when you purchase a pitcher of Blue Moon or Peroni. Write your team name on the back, and place in the DC Bocce bucket on the bar. We will hold weekly raffles around 10 p.m. for gift certificates to McFadden's. The team that has the most amount of tickets in the bucket at the end of season (aka that drinks the most pitchers) will win $300 to Graffiato by Mike Isabella. Yum! Keep drinking those sponsor beers!

Charity
At the end of each season, top teams from each division are awarded a cash prize to donate to a charity of their choice.  We have donated to many local, national and international charities.  We are also happy to participate in special charity events throughout the year.  If you have any ideas feel free to contact us mail@dcbocce.com.

Rules to Know:
It's helpful to familiarize yourself with the rules, but we know you probably won't have the attention span to read it all, so here are a few key points:

-Matches are played until a team reaches 16 points (there is no "win by 2" rule in bocce) or until the end of the allotted 45 minutes. Ties are acceptable, except in playoffs.

-The team that throws out the pallina (the smaller white ball) also is the first team to throw out on of their larger bigger balls (red or green in color.) Whichever ball is closer after both teams have thrown is winning the point. The team that threw the ball that is farther away continues to throw until they are closer or out of balls. Don't get horny with all of this ball talk...

-If a larger ball is knocked out of the court, it is out of play. If the pallina gets knocked out, the entire frame needs to be restarted.

-Use the measuring tape if you are unsure which ball is closer... but don't be that team that measures everything... no one wants to buy that team a beer after the game...

-Keep score on the pad of paper we provide, and hand to a black shirt at the end of the match. DO: Write your team names. DON'T: Write the colors of your balls or t-shirts... that is not helpful when there are two ball colors and two t-shirt colors for everyone in the league.

-Please don't bring in outside food/drink to McFadden's.
